OUR TEAM
The MATT TEAM includes an artistic director, admin assistant, two class teachers, and four private teachers. High school class assistants and Theory teachers, parents, and Board Members also volunteer to provide much needed assistance with the growing tasks involved in the operation of the program.
Andrea Currie Jefferson
Founder, Executive Director & Class Teacher
Executive Director and Founder of Music at the Towers & Associate Concertmaster of the Rose Orchestra, Andrea loves to share her expertise, enthusiasm, and inspiring way of teaching at Music at the Towers. After she earned her Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto, she taught high school string classes in North York and Peel Boards of Education during which time she also acted as Concertmaster of the Etobicoke Philharmonic.
Amir Khouri
Violin
Amir Khouri has graduated from the Higher Institute of Music, Syria with a Bachelor degree in violin and viola. He is a violinist with the Canadian Arabic Orchestra, National Syrian Orchestra as well as a violin teacher in the Canadian Arabic Conservatory, Saint Mikeal Institute and the Lebanese Music School.
Nicole Yoshimura
Class Teacher
Nicole Yoshimura is a graduate from The University of Western Ontario and University of Toronto with an Honours in Music Education with a secondary teachable in English and a Bachelor of Education program for instrumental music from OISE.
Lyle Brown
Cello
Since his student days (University of British Columbia, Vancouver Academy of Music, Banff School of Fine Arts…), Mr. Brown has worked as a cellist with several Canadian and touring orchestras (most notably, over the past few years: Niagara Symphony, Stratford Festival, and Hamilton Opera.) He also appears with various chamber music ensembles, including the TrueArt Trio. He is always busy with projects as a composer and arranger.
Sarah Albishara
Violin
Sarah has more than 10 years of experience playing the violin, and over 4 years of teaching the violin. She has experience with teaching in person and online across all age groups. Sarah played with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra for two seasons. Sarah is outgoing and has a deep love for music. She enjoys working with a diverse community of students, especially children who are excited to learn. Her mission is to spread joy through music.
Brian Baty
Double Bass
Brian Baty is a professional freelance musician who has performed with many of Ontario's professional orchestras including the Toronto Symphony, the National Ballet of Canada and the Canadian Opera Company. He also currently holds the position of principal double bassist with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra. Brian maintains a private teaching studio as well as coaching string sectionals in elementary schools, secondary schools and community orchestras.
